Calm/Assertive Academy

FOR Teachers • Classroom Aides • Pre-Service Teachers

Research has shown the importance of giving students choices and the importance of building relationships as a means of creating a positive, happy learning environment where students feel loved and supported. These students are more able to live within the parameters and expectations set by their teachers and principals.

Calm/Assertive Procedures are specific and explicitly taught procedures, routines, and rituals designed to allow educators to effectively build relationships and give healthy control in school. Upon completion of this course, educators will be equipped with three weeks of specific lesson plans to create and maintain procedures for building relationships and sharing control with even the most difficult students.

CONFERENCE DETAILS

This three-day conference will teach educators procedures and strategies for building relationships with kids, creating ownership of the classroom, and for sharing control with students on the teacher's terms so that students do not try to take control on their terms. These procedures will have consequences for kids who do not follow the procedures woven into the fabric of the procedure itself. The conference will be completely hands-on and totally interactive. Teachers will walk out of this conference with lesson plans for the first three weeks of school that will set the stage for a successful school year!
